Some weddings just hit a little different

...and this one, friends, is one I’ll always hold dear. I’ve known Jewelia since she was a teenager, and her heart has always been as beautiful as her smile. Watching her walk down the aisle to Cody—a man who adores her deeply and shares her love for Jesus and others—was an absolute joy. Their day at The Southern Charm in Cleveland, TN was a perfect blend of everything sweet, sacred, and worth celebrating.

From the moment I arrived at the venue, I knew it was going to be special. The Southern Charm is a gorgeous two-story barn venue with high ceilings, warm wooden beams, sparkling chandeliers, and elegant flowing drapes both inside and out. The ceremony took place in a stunning open-air pavilion out back, where spring sunshine filtered through and gave everything a soft, golden glow. It truly was the most beautiful spring day—sunny and mild, with not a single thing to complain about (a rare gift for an April wedding!).

Before the ceremony, Cody and Jewelia shared a private first look just a few feet from where they’d say their official “I do’s.” It was quiet, emotional, and so full of love. They exchanged their handwritten vows in this sweet moment—just the two of them—tears flowing, laughter mixed with hugs, and hearts completely open. It was one of the most genuine, touching first looks I’ve ever witnessed.

Later, they would read those same vows again during the ceremony, this time surrounded by their friends and family. And in a moment that left everyone with misty eyes, they invited their guests to gather around and pray over them. That circle of prayer, love, and blessing—right there in the middle of their ceremony—was such a powerful testament to their faith and the kind of marriage they are building.

There were so many joyful, personal touches throughout the day. The bride’s niece and nephew were pulled down the aisle in a red wagon by two “ring security” boys (yes, it was as adorable as it sounds), and the flower girl followed close behind. The color palette of dusty blue, navy, and crisp whites kept everything light, airy, and timeless—a perfect reflection of their style and hearts.

Cody’s groomsmen were an amazing group—many of them traveled long distances just to stand by his side. It was clear how deeply they respected and loved him, and how much they cared for the bride he was about to marry. We joked throughout the day that there wasn’t a bridezilla in sight… but we may have had a maid-of-honor-zilla (in the best way)! Jewelia’s sister, Alyssa, kept everyone moving, organized, and laughing.

One of the most emotional parts of the evening came during the toasts. Alyssa’s speech brought just about everyone to tears as she shared how Cody never missed a beat stepping into their family. His kindness, patience, and acceptance of her special needs children showed exactly the kind of man he is—faithful, steady, and full of love.

But the tears didn’t last long—because when the music started, the party did not stop! Their guests came ready to celebrate, and yes… even Grandma made sure the DJ hit the dance floor! The joy in that room was electric.

And on a personal note—I was incredibly honored to be more than just the photographer. I got to help Jewelia into her shoes, and in that quiet little moment, I was reminded again just how special it is to walk alongside people you love on one of the most important days of their life.

Cody and Jewelia, you are two of the kindest, most big-hearted people I’ve ever had the privilege of knowing. Your love for Jesus, for people, and for each other shines so brightly. It was a gift to be a part of your day, and I cannot wait to watch your marriage flourish in the years to come.
