This past Saturday, I got to photograph a wedding that was anything but traditional—and it was absolutely perfect in every way.

Charity and Bobby said “I do” surrounded by their children and granddaughter, and lots of people who care deeply about them. Every single part of their day felt like them—fun, laid-back, and full of meaning. Charity wore a gorgeous pink dress covered in butterflies, and if you know her heart, you know that was no accident. The butterflies (which made their way into several special details) were in honor of her mom, who went on to be with the Lord before this day, along with her dad. Even though they weren’t physically there, you could feel their presence in so many tender ways.

One of the most emotional details was a large photo of Charity with her parents, that Bobby had placed right up front where they would have been sitting. It stopped me in my tracks the moment I walked in. It was beautiful and bittersweet all at once.

Their son Scout—who just so happens to be one of my son’s school friends!—had the honor of giving his mom away, and it was so sweet to witness. Their daughters and granddaughter made the most precious trio of flower girls, laughing and twirling with their little baskets. It was such a reflection of who Charity and Bobby are as a couple—family-oriented, joyful, and always ready to laugh.

During the ceremony, Charity and Bobby invited all of their guests to gather around and pray over them. It was one of those moments that instantly quieted the room—in the best way. Hands were gently laid, tears were wiped away, and heartfelt prayers were spoken over their marriage. It was a beautiful reminder that this union is rooted in faith, covered in love, and supported by the people closest to them.

The reception had roller skating vibes (because yes, these two actually met while skating - how fun is that?!!), and I loved how playful and personal everything felt. They didn’t worry about the rules or traditions—they just celebrated their love the way that felt most true to them. And honestly? That’s my favorite kind of wedding to photograph.

Charity and Bobby, thank you for letting me be a small part of your day. Your love for each other and your family is such a joy to witness, and I hope when you look back on these photos, you’re reminded not just of how beautiful it all was—but how deeply loved you are.
